Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, accessing, or using the Acier mobile application or website (collectively, the “Service”), operated by Personal Asset Vault, LLC (doing business as Acier), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Service. We may update these Terms from time to time and will notify you via email or in-app notice. Continued use after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

2. Description of Service

Acier is an AI-powered personal asset inventory platform. The Service provides:

  • Room scanning and AI-powered item identification with estimated replacement costs
  • Specialty capture modes for media, collectibles, and wine and spirits
  • Insurance policy reading, coverage analysis, risk assessments, the Underwriter Agent, and a Protection Score
  • PDF reports, CSV export, and a full archive of your data
  • Multi-property management

By default, the Service uses a device-primary architecture: your inventory is stored on your device and in your personal iCloud account, and Acier does not hold a copy. Policy documents you upload are kept on your device.

3. Account Registration

You sign in using Sign in with Apple; Acier does not use passwords. You must be at least 13 years of age. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Apple account and for all activity under your Acier account. Because your inventory is stored on your device and in your iCloud account, keeping access to them is how you keep access to your inventory; Acier holds no copy it could restore.

4. Subscriptions and Payment

Acier offers three tiers: Free, Pro, and Pro+, each available as a monthly or annual subscription. Current prices, and what each tier includes, are shown in the App Store and in the app before you purchase. Each tier includes a fixed number of properties (one on Free, three on Pro, ten on Pro+).

Captures. AI analysis of a photo uses a capture. Every account receives a one-time allotment of free captures. Each subscription adds a one-time bonus of captures when first purchased; renewals do not add captures. You may also buy capture packs as one-time, non-subscription purchases. Captures do not expire and remain in your account if your subscription changes or ends. Captures have no cash value, cannot be transferred or exchanged, and are forfeited if you delete your account. If an analysis does not complete, the captures it used are returned to your balance.

All payments are processed through the Apple App Store. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Refund requests must be submitted through Apple. Acier does not directly process or store payment information.

5. Your Content and Data

You retain full ownership of all content you create, upload, or generate through the Service, including photos, inventory data, insurance documents, and reports. You grant Acier a limited license to process this content solely for the purpose of providing the Service.

Your inventory is stored on your device and in your personal iCloud account, and Acier does not hold a copy. AI analysis occurs through a stateless pipeline: content sent for analysis is not retained by Acier after the response is returned, and our AI provider does not use it to train models and deletes it under its commercial retention terms.

Acier Cloud, an optional encrypted vault, is not yet available. Its terms will be added here before it launches.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service
  • Use bots, scrapers, or automated tools against the Service
  • Upload malicious code or content
  • Impersonate any person or entity
  • Use the Service to store or process content that violates any applicable law

7. AI-Generated Content and Valuations

Acier uses artificial intelligence to identify items, estimate values, and analyze insurance coverage. These are estimates only and should not be treated as professional appraisals, financial advice, or insurance recommendations.

Acier employs confidence-gated pricing: when AI confidence in an identification is low, estimated values are withheld rather than displayed, to prevent misleading information. All AI values are estimates; those shown with a tilde (~) carry lower confidence. Values you enter yourself are always shown as you entered them. We recommend consulting qualified professionals for high-value items, official appraisals, and insurance decisions.

8. Not Insurance Advice

Acier is not an insurance company, broker, agent, adjuster, or appraiser, and does not provide insurance advice or underwriting. Coverage analysis, risk assessments, and Underwriter Agent responses are informational. They are based on the policy documents and inventory you provide, which Acier may read imperfectly, and you can review and correct the values Acier reads from a policy. Your policy documents and your insurer determine your actual coverage. Consult a licensed insurance professional before making coverage decisions.

9. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, algorithms, and branding, is the intellectual property of Acier. Your use of the Service does not grant you any ownership rights in the Service itself.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee the accuracy of AI-generated valuations, identifications, or insurance analysis.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Acier shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data or profits. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Acier and its officers, employees, and agents from any claims arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

13. Termination

You may delete your account at any time through the app. Upon deletion, the account data stored on our servers, including your capture balance and purchase records, will be permanently and irreversibly deleted within 30 days, except where retention is required by law and except the Apple purchase ids, kept with no link to your account, that our Privacy Policy describes. Locally-stored data on your device is under your control. Acier may terminate or suspend your account for violation of these Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
